Understanding Hypnotherapy & the Healing Power Stored within You

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

Working with a hypnotherapist was the best gift I ever gave myself. This powerful healing modality changed my life. I was able to use my subconscious mind to go from bedridden depression to thriving in life, in just a few short months.

If you struggle with blocks, burdens and limiting beliefs and have failed to break free, this modality is for you. Many of my clients tell me they have tried EVERYTHING.  When I hear that, I know they are a great candidate for hypnotherapy.

Hypnosis Facts & Myths

There are many misconceptions about hypnosis. The public is exposed to hypnosis by viewing stage hypnosis which is very different from therapeutic hypnotherapy.

Another form of exposure would be TV and movies. We often see forms of mind control being shown in films. Again, this is not hypnotherapy.

Let’s get to the truth. The subconscious mind can transform your body and mind. You can create the life of bliss you deserve in an effortless way.

Hypnosis VS Hypnotherapy

Hypnotists receive a very specific type of training and their craft usually involves some form of touching the body and/or distraction/deception. This is done to distract the conscious mind. Once the conscious mind is busy or relaxed, the hypnotist can make the suggestions to the subconscious.

In a trans-personal hypnotherapy session (or spiritual hypnotherapy), the practitioner guides the client into a deep state of relaxation using imagery, colors, sounds, and words. The client remains in control and the subconscious mind opens easily to receive the new messages.

Client-Centered VS Directive

Another difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy is the way the intake and the suggestions are done. A hypnotist can be very directive and they use aversion therapy.

An example of aversion therapy would be telling a client cigarettes taste like dirt. This is not a therapeutic approach to healing.

A hypnotherapist would want to help you uncover WHY you smoke and heal the source of the addiction. In addition, we would ask the subconscious mind to replace the behavior with something new and healthy.

I have compiled a list of Facts & Myths about hypnosis and the subconscious mind for those who may have reservations or questions.

Commons Misconceptions About Hypnotherapy
  • A person is not in control when they are in hypnosis.

  • People can get stuck in hypnosis.

  • Thoughts and beliefs can be planted in your subconscious mind.

  • You will uncover hidden traumas you repressed that you can’t handle.

  • You will lose control and can be told what to do or say when in hypnosis.

  • You will forget what happened during your hypnosis session.

  • Some people are too smart to be hypnotized.
What's the Truth About the Subconscious Mind?
  • Hypnosis is a natural state of mind and takes place in the brainwave state of Theta, the state right before you drift into sleep, or Delta State.

  • The subconscious mind is the feeling mind. It is childlike and has the cognitive level of a 5 to 7 year-old. It does not have the ability to reason and analyze.

  • The sole purpose of the subconscious mind is to keep you safe. It is always awake, always alert, and records both the seen and unseen.

  • The subconscious mind does not have the limits of time and space. It can access other times, places, people and information.

  • You move in and out of hypnosis at least twice a day, as you fall asleep at night and as you wake in the morning.
More Fun Facts About the Subconscious Mind
  • The subconscious mind will protect you from seeing anything traumatic. You will only see what you are ready to see. If you are not ready, you will not be able to access the memory, or will forget that part of your session.

  • You must have a desire and willingness to change for hypnosis to work.

  • All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. You are always in control.

  • 1 hour of hypnosis or meditation is equivalent to 3 or 4 hours of sleep.

  • Everyone experiences hypnosis differently and each time is full of new sensations and experiences.

  • The more you access your subconscious mind in resting states, the easier it is to access the mind in moving meditation and while daydreaming.

  • The subconscious mind has the ability to heal your body, mind and spirit.

How Hypnotherapy Healed My Life

I was bedridden and home bound for over a year with chronic pain and mental illness. I had attempted suicide and prayed daily for death. In and out of psychiatric hospitals, I was desperate for help.

My life changed when I discovered hypnotherapy and self-hypnosis. I was able to release most of my pain and nine psych medications in just two months.

As I honed in on my self-hypnosis skills and worked with a hypnotherapist, I was able to release 100 pounds, heal my thyroid, and let go of my emotional baggage and trauma.

Before & After Bliss

Check out my before and after bliss pictures. What I love about hypnotherapy is how easy and effortless my healing journey was.  The weight just began to fall off. The unhealthy food cravings were gone. Life became easy, breezy...blissful.

Finding A Hypnotherapist

When you partner with a hypnotherapist, it's important to find a good fit for your needs. I also recommend working with different practitioners and modalities that work with the subconscious mind. If you try one practitioner and dislike what you experience, don't give up.

Use this same approach with modalities. For example, if you dislike hypnotherapy, you may find the NLP, or neuro-linguistic programming more up your alley. I have noticed males and people drawn to corporate work like this modality.

I often look for a practitioner or therapist who has struggled with similar challenges and overcome them using the same work. This creates a space for rapport and empathy that can be lacking with someone who has never been in your shoes.

Ask the practitioner you are interested in working with for a Discovery Call or consultation before beginning your work together. This allows you to see if your values are aligned and he/she has the tools needed to support you.

If you feel called to do deeper work and discover the healing power of your subconscious mind and feel like I might be your hypnotherapist, schedule a Discovery Call today. Schedule here.
